DIY Fall Decor | Easy DIY Twine Pumpkins

Fall, “the season,” technically lasts from late September through the end of December, but “Fall, the feeling,” is a bit different for everyone. While some people jump right into Christmas after Halloween, I like to savor the coziness of fall a little longer. November, for me, is a beautiful blend of fall’s warmth and the comforts of the holiday season.

Growing up, Thanksgiving was one of my favorite holidays, especially when we traveled to Minnesota to spend the weekend with my aunt, uncle, cousins and extended family. It was a weekend filled with gatherings, playing with cousins we didn’t see often, football always on in the background, and plenty of food! Those trips are a big reason why November holds so much nostalgia for me. I want to enjoy this season fully, without rushing past it.

With that in mind, I still have my twine pumpkins out—perfect for November decor. This simple and cute DIY is an easy way to bring a little extra fall charm to your home or create thoughtful gifts for the season.

Supplies Needed

• Toilet paper or paper towel roll
• Twine (This one is my go-to: it’s perfect for crafting, gift wrapping, and any other projects!)
• Thin wire (optional) –
• Hot glue or Glue360
• Twigs (or cinnamon sticks for a lovely scent)

Directions

1. Wrap your twine around the paper roll—tight enough to stay in place but loose enough to slide off when done. Wrap 15-20 times for a thinner look or 25-40 times for a denser pumpkin.
2. Slide the twine off the roll and secure it with additional twine or thin wire.
3. Repeat to create four twine wraps.
4. Group the twine wraps together, tying all four in the center.
5. Separate and arrange your twine to shape it into a pumpkin.
6. Attach a twig or small branch to the top with hot glue or Glue360.
7. Once dry, it’s ready to add to your decor!

Variations & Tips

• Experiment with different sizes and shapes for the base—you can use anything you have on hand, but the rolls are a perfect size and easy to access.
• Try different styles and thicknesses of twine, or even a sturdy rope or ribbon for a unique texture.
• Vary the number of wraps to create different looks; fewer wraps make a thinner pumpkin, while more create a fuller effect.

These little pumpkins are versatile decor pieces! They look great in centerpieces, add charm to decor arrangements, or make a lovely group on their own. I love how they bring in natural elements, keeping the cozy fall vibe alive even as we transition into the holidays.
