Craft 1: DIY Canvas Bookbag
What You Need:
- Stencils (optional)
- Plain canvas tote bag – a quick stroll at any craft store or online adn you will find plenty of options.
- Fabric markers or paint (We have been using Sharpie Creative Markers for a lot of projects and love how it turns out. They are not fabric markers, so if you want your bag to be more wash resistant, select a fabric marker or paint)
How to Make It:
- Choose your design! Book stacks, favorite quotes, or simple illustrations work great.
- Sketch lightly with a pencil or use stencils for guidance.
- Use fabric markers or paint to bring your design to life.
- Let dry completely before using.
Yes it is that simple! But fun to create and perfect for an afternoon or weekend craft. The kids have loved creating their own bags and creating them as gifts. We have made them for fun, birthday gifts, and special occasions. This is also a special girls night in option!
π Pro Tip: If you use a fabric marker or paint be sure to heat-set the design with an iron to make it last longer! (Sharpie Creative Markers are not heat set)

Craft 2: Packing Tape Bookmark
What You Need:
- Paper (scraps, scrapbook, book pages, maps, whatever you have)
- Clear packing tape
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- Ribbon or string
- Optional: Glitter!
How to Make It:
- Use the hole punch, or cut small circles or shapes from old book pages, decorative paper, or magazines.
- Lay/sprinkle them on a strip of clear packing tape.
- Add glitter if you want!
- Add a top tape layer of packing tape.
- Smooth out any bubbles and trim the edges.
- Punch a hole at the top and add a ribbon or twine.
