I have read The Alchemist twice and both times I was able to receive the message I needed at the time. It is a beautiful story of a young shepherd, Santiago, as he navigates the lessons and omens the world has to offer as he travels and dreams, crossing paths with the people he is meant to encounter in his journey.
The book is an easy read as it tells a story, I love a format like this as it makes it easier for me to absorb. However, there are passages that give moment of pause, to reread and reflect upon. If you don’t sit with them and reflect, the story is good and inspiring. But in my mind if you do take pause to sit with the passage you will come to the closing with a new perspective on your purpose, the significance of others in your life and the power of love.
“I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.”
“No Matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn’t know it.”
“It’s true that everything has its Personal Legend, but one day that Personal Legend will be realized. So each thing has to transform itself into something better, and to acquire a new Personal Legend, until, someday, the Soul of the World becomes one thing only.”
“You don’t have to understand the desert, all you have to do is contemplate a single grain of sand & you will see in it, all the marvels of creation”
“One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.”
“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are.”
“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”
“You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it’s better to listen to what it has to say. That way, you’ll never have to fear an unanticipated blow.”
The dunes are changed by the wind, but the desert never changes. That’s the way it will be with our love for each other.”
The list could go on!
If this leaves you wanting to read The Alchemist I encourage you to borrow it from a friend, check it out at your local library or if you plan to purchase it, consider purchasing from Bookshop.org. I love books, and with that comes the love of wondering book shops, exploring, getting lost in the smell of a new book, and all the stories to dive into. However, that is not always our option, BUT you can still support local book shop. Head to my BookShop Page to explore my recommendations and any other books you want to read. All purchases support local book stores!
