5 Easy Paper Craft Ideas for Simple Afternoons at Home

5 simple paper based projects for a some creativity time at any level.

Whether it is the hour after school before dinner starts, or a relaxing Sunday afternoon, There’s something special about a simple afternoon at home.

It can be the perfect time for easy creativity time. Just a table, a couple supplies and a little creativity. Leading to connection and fun. Here are the ideas we are covering today!

Simple crafts matter because they slow us down. They invite connection. They remind us that creativity doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. Whether you’re crafting with kids, friends, or enjoying a quiet moment alone, these easy paper craft ideas are designed to be approachable for all skills levels and simple for less mess.


Books Marks

Supplies:
– Paper (plain white printer paper, scraps, scrapbook or patterned)
-Scissors
-Markers, crayons and/or paints

Steps:
1. Cut your paper to desired size
2. If you want you can also cut rounded or angled corners
3. Color, paint or all of the above. Limited only by creativity and how much mess you are up for (or not!)

Bonus/optional: Hole punch to add a ribbon on the top.


Stickers

This is a great option for creating new OR for those of you with a artist, doodler that has drawings and doodles everywhere you can use those!

Supplies:
– Paper (or existing drawings)
– Markers, crayons and/or paints
– Scissors
– Parchment Paper
– Clear Duck Tape

Steps:
1. Color, draw or paint – whatever your heart desires.
2. Cut out the items you created. Your choice if you want it right on the edge or with a slight white boarder. (Set your cut art aside for now)
3. Pull out a section of parchment paper.
4. Add a layer of tape to the parchment. Sticky side to the parchment, no gaps – better to overlap than leave gaps.
5. Place your cut out art design faced up onto your taped parchment.
6. Add another layer of clear tape (sticky side down) onto your art and parchment. I recommend only doing 1-2 drawings at a time so you don’t accidently stick to other pieces or crinkle your tape.
7. Cut our your taped art. You now have a custom created sticker! Peel off the parchment and place where you want. (not recommended for outdoor or items exposed to water)


Greeting Cards

Supplies:
– Paper (or existing drawings)
– Markers, crayons and/or paints
– Scissors

Steps:
1. Cut out paper to the card size of your choice, keep in mind once your fold it.
2. Fold your piece in half to make the greeting card.
3. Color, draw or paint – whatever your heart desires. (catching on to the theme!)

Add a little message inside and send it to someone right away (Happy mail!), or keep them on hand for when you want to send a little note.

These also make great gifts! Create a set or pull a few from each kiddo to create a pack. They make a great personalized and handmade gift for those you love!


Gift Tags

Supplies:
– Paper (or existing drawings & paintings)
– Markers, crayons and/or paints
– Scissors
– Hole Punch

Steps:
1. Color, draw or paint. Get creative! Think about holiday and gift themes, try patterns, words or paint the whole page with various colors.
2. Cut out tags. Small rectangles, long strips, circles, anything goes!
3. Punch a hole at “the top” or a corner. (For ribbon later when you attach it to a gift.

That’s it!

These also make great gifts! Collect a few to package together to give as a handmade and useful gift; one that keeps on giving.

Just Color

Supplies:
– Paper
– Markers, crayons and/or paints

Steps:
1. Just draw! Yes that is it. Slow down, be present and explore. Don’t set any expectations, let creativity lead.


Try One This Week!

You don’t need a perfectly planned afternoon.

Pick one idea. Set a timer for 30–45 minutes. Clear the table. Turn on music. Invite your kids…or don’t. Let it be simple.

Creativity doesn’t have to be elaborate to be meaningful. Sometimes the smallest projects create the sweetest memories.
